Notice anything...

Besides the fact that:

I look like my feet had a carrot spa treatment.

I have cute pretzel nuggety type toes (if you talk to my hubbie).

I have cute tater tot type toes (if you talk to Pocklock).

I have W I D E feet.

I have very tiny-can-barely-be-seen-toe-nails on my pinky toes.

I need a pedicure.

I have to take home that tupperware container on the right side of the picture that's been sitting there for about a week or two (mac & cheese was in there).

Okay, so beside those things, did you also notice that mysteriously those oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops are A) on my feet, B) Not buried in the back yard as I promise I would do last night upon arriving at home.

I couldn't do it. I couldn't bring myself to actually part with them. Besides, Pocklock promised we could go for another Saturday shopping trip this time themed the Great Flip Flop Adventure. I am now changing my promise to bury them last night, to burying them once Pocklock and I go on our Great Flip Flop Adventure. Once I have new black flip flops that don't smell and that are not gross, I will get rid of the old one, until then...you can find them right here

On my albeit W I D E, pretzel nuggety, tater totting, Pedicure needing, too much carrot spa treatmented next to nothing pinky toe nailed footsies!!!

Wanna get some?

This morning on the train: Reading the newspaper, I noticed a special on how to spice up your summer burger fare. On the front page of the section of the paper was an oversized full color photo of perhaps the most beautiful burger with avocado among other things (but I'm a sucker for avocados). It's the BLT burger with grilled avocado. So I decided that would be the suject of my "Twitter" comment and even got some feedback about it. So I contemplated my strategy on how to convince hubbie to make it for me.

Well he just called. Conversation ensued:

Me: hi
Him: hey
Me: what's goin on?
Him: Nothin'...ummm...any suggestions for dinner?
Me: Depends! (covers mouth and talks quietly into the phone)Wanna get laid tonight?
Him: What'd you say?
Me: (once again covers mouth and talks a little less quietly) Wanna get laid?
Him: What? I still can't hear you.
Me: (rolls eyes...oh for the love...seriously...get a hearing aid...and pause a little too long)
Him: I really couldn't hear you...what did you say?
Me: (And now not covering mouth and not being especially quiet) Wanna get some?
Him: (didn't miss a beat) Why, what do you want?
Me: How does a BLT burger with grilled avocado sound?
Him: You read the newspaper didn't you?
Me: hahaha, Um yes, apparently you did too. Where are you?
Him: The super market!
Me: Oh good!
Him: Well that's not what I was going to make!
Me: What were you going to make? And why did you ask me for suggestions if you already had a plan?
Him: BLTs and I figured, I don't know, we'd be on the same page!
Me: Perfect then throw a burger and some grilled avocado on top and you'll get some tonight.

How long until I can go home? I guess I better not claim food coma afterwards, huh?

Just. Iew. And. Also. Gross.

This morning as I dropped Li'l Foot at daycare, I usually always leave my shoes (whichever I happen to be wearing at the moment), today it happened to be my oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops outside the baby gate of the Infant room. This morning I forgot but as I took my, oh maybe 5th step into the room, I remembered that I needed to take them off and instead of going out of the room and taking my oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops off I just left them where they lie...right inside the baby gate. Fine, right?...the babies on the floor were at the other end of the room and really I'd be gone before any of the crawling babesters could get to the oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops, right? RIGHT?

I went about my parental duties of stocking the fridge with some baby-love-beverages making sure to leave one out for Li'l Foot's morning feeding. I made sure I took out Li'l Foot's new bigger daycare swaddle blanket for nap time (which by the way is my sarong...which by the way still smells like Hawaii from last October...which by the way if you're wondering smells like sun screen and just an overall beachy aroma type smell...it's a good kind of smell...no worries). I snorgeled Li'l Foot as she lay on the floor. I did all those things that pass the time way too quickly from 7 to 7:10 (I swear that's the fastest 10 minutes of my day and it's also the 10 minutes I wish I could make 1,000 minutes so I could spend more time with Li'l Foot). If anyone knows how to make 10 minutes seem longer, I'm all ears. While I did my thing there were two other infants in the room, one whose dad just dropped her off and the other being the daycare staffers own daughter (you know as in the person who takes care of Li'l Foot...has her daughter in the room). (There has to be a conflict of interest in there somewhere...I just haven't figured it out yet, except that maybe if her daughter and Li'l Foot and/or any other infants were to be in trouble of some kind the daycare staffer would come to the rescue of her own daughter before any others, no? Am I wrong? Did I over analyze again? Dang it.

And why, might you ask does Li'l Foot need a new bigger swaddle blanket...well hey webiverse...funny you should ask that very qeustion. Maybe because Li'l Foot weighed in this weekend at 21 pounds...yes you read that right...TWENTY. ONE. POUNDS. (she hadn't pooped in 3 days though so maybe she's not that big yet...maybe?) And she no longer stays swaddled in the blanket I have been bringing since she started daycare 3 months ago.

Anyway...I started to leave and the daycare staffer was telling me something and I happened to look towards the door to the room (where really I needed to be exiting so I wouldn't miss my train) and where *gasp* the day care staffers own baby was playing with the baby gate just a few seconds prior...but now...now...she was gnawing on the end of my oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops...Like. I. Said. Just. Iew. And. Also. Gross. (heave, I might have just threw up a little in my mouth) I've had these oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops since I don't know when, and they are totally worn in and/or worn out, however you want to look at it. My disgust could not be hidden as her mom/daycare staffer still spoke to me and I was all Iew, no don't eat that, gross and I ran over to her. Dude, I wouldn't even gnaw on my own flip flop. Do truly have any idea where those flip flops have been? Honestly, I work in a big city, I've mistakenly worn these oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops on days that I didn't watch the weather and it rained and I puddled jumped to the train station and yuck, the filth these oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops have been subjected to. I've been in my backyard, where Guiness does his business, I've walked a lot of miles in these oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops and the thought of that little 1 year old having one in her mouth scieves me out. When I took the oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops away from her, she looked up at me and smiled and I noticed the toe end was noticably saturated with baby drool (heave, again).

So if nothing else, I can add baby drool to the plethora of things my oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops have been subjected to. I mean think about it, a city street has everything from uri- (huuuunnnhhh <---me heaving)...god I can't even list the things because now any and all of the things I can come up with are now in the childs mouth. As soon as I get home, these oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops will be given a proper burial. I am vowing to get rid of them, you heard it here first webiverse I am actually going to get rid of my favorite pair of flip flops. And do you know why? Because people...any day now Li'l Foot will be crawling and OMG...what if she finds them in the shoe tray and sucks on them too (huuuuuunnnnhhhh).

I simply can't talk about this anymore...all I keep doing is heaving and when I heave I picture my friend Moonshine when we were sitting on my couch and she was telling me a story that made her heave and her mouth and tongue did this weird thing and she made this God awful sound (like a gagging noise)to go with it and tears came out of her eyes because that's how grossed out she was about the story she was telling me. I am emotionally scarred from having this little 1 year old suck on my flip flop and I promise never to wear my shoes (any of them) in the room again!!! I'll also update you on the oh-so-stinky-and-should-be-retired-black-flip-flops burial. May they rest in stinky peace!!!

Anyone know anything about hand, foot and mouth disease? I'm just sayin'!

Just an ordinary trip to *Bucks...

I don't go to *Bucks (Starbucks) but maybe once a week perhaps. It's expensive and I like to treat myself maybe once a week, if that.

So a coworker is in town working in this office today, so we (he and I and this other girl) go to *Bucks for a little mid morning pick us up!!! I ordered what I always order, a Iced, Grande, Decaf, White Chocolate Mocha, light on the ice. My coworker paid, thanks EH...HI (shout out to you on my blog)!!! I step to the side, and wait for the barista to make my beverage. Two other customers beverages come out, and then bliss...there's mine. And as I always do these days I say to the barista, "It's decaf right, definitely decaf, RIGHT?" So he responds, "yes" and I continue, "ok, sorry, it's just that...well..., nevermind, thank you" (I thought I'd spare him the breastfeeding blah blah blah...can't have caffeine, blah blah blah...baby will be up all night blahity blah blah blah shpiel.) So, I claimed my beverage and walked over to the straws, sugar, milk, etc. No sooner did I insert the straw, and take one sip, I feel a tap tap tap on my shoulder and when I turn around I find a customer who is waiting for his beverage behind me telling me the barista wants my attention. So I go over (and now there's about 5 other customers standing around waiting for their beverages too who are about to hear the following conversation) and the barista is all, "I'm really sure your drink is decaf, but just to be certain let me make you another one!" and I'm all, "Ummmm...okay, I'm sorry, it's just that...ummmm...ok...I'm breastfeeding and I really don't need my baby...well...nevermind" (I'll just wait over here next to my friends and turn all shades of bright red now that I just announced to the entire *Bucks that I'm a human cow.) And why is it now that I've bared all to people at *Bucks about breastfeeding that I feel every pair of eyes is sizing up my rack!!! No people, I haven't pumped yet today that's why they are looking rather full instead of all wilty. Can we go back to the office now? Please?

The start of our family SOP manual

It started as a joke, but more a reality now. We are starting an SOP manual (standard operating procedure manual) for our family so that everyone in our house is on the same page. We've added the first item on the list.

1. Hubbie is to call me as soon as he walks in the door from getting Li'l Foot from daycare. That way I know everyone is safe at home and he can debrief me on her happenings for the day (i.e. when she pooped, peed, napped, ate, was she fussy, what activitied did they do, did she reach yet another milestone?).

I'm sure the SOP will grow, so check back.

My new best friend...

It doesn't talk back!!!

It doesn't judge!!!

It doesn't cry!!!

It doesn't snore!!!

It doesn't fart!!!

It doesn't cuss!!!

It doesn't burp!!!

It doesn't poop in it's diaper!!!

It doesn't even wear diapers!!!

It doesn't subject me Cops and America's Most Wanted!!!

It doesn't claim I never told it about this or that!!!

It's Google Reader!!! Oh my gosh...how did I live all this time without it!!! And why didn't anyone tell me about it? It's nothing short of the best thing since sliced bread...EVER!!! It lets me store all my favorite blogs and then lets me know when those blogs have been updated!!! Now I don't have to sit here and hit refresh a million times a day...Ummmmm...YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! I pull up Google Reader on the train on my Treo and am able to catch up on the most recent postings. Soooo much fun!!!

Pull the tab...

Do you have a moment in time where you're transported back in time? Where something happens or someone does something that instantly flashes you back to another moment in your life? I've had a moment...recently!!!

When I was a kid, there were three things you could always find strewn about in our house no matter what room you were in. And all three things happen to be courtesy of my dad. Item # 1 was Q-tips. Used. Q. Tips. (I know, gross...sorry!) I don't know why but my father could never bring himself to just throw them out. Item # 2 was tooth picks. Used. Tooth. Picks. (again...I know...gross!) He also for some reason didn't know that used any-one-of-these-things-belonged-in-the-trash...but whatever...it's the past and it's not like I can tell him now or anything!!! And Item # 3 which happens to be the reason for this post is soda/beer can tabs...you know the ones on aluminum cans...that you go "Lift", and it goes "ffffssssssttttt" (as the carbonation is released, and then you push the tab back on top!!! Well, my dad used to collect these. Apparently there were some worthy cause for collecting. One that I remember was "collect can tabs and every (however many) they would donate x amount of money toward helping such and such a person get treatment for cancer". It's even been called an urban legend on this website http://www.snopes.com/business/redeem/pulltabs.asp . As far as the tabs go, this site say that it would take 1 million tabs to raise just $300...that's 3 cents per tab.

I always got yelled at by my dad if I didn't pull the tab and just threw the can away. He'd inevitably have that keen sense of a can tab hasn't been pulled off...warning...warning...bwooooop...bwooooop...and an alarm in his head would go off and there'd be lock down mode, until the situation was under control and the tab had been rescued for the garbage compactor. There was no getting away with it. There would be some sort of jar or can in any given room and they'd always be filled to the brim with can tabs...which makes me wonder if he ever gave them in to wherever was asking for them. One will never know.

So here's where it gets creepy. Last week or the week before (I'm really not sure because I've tried to block it out, which hasn't worked yet that's why I'm blogging about it now), I came home from work, hubbie spoke about seeing this sign posted up at work about if you collect such and such amount of these can tabs, it'll go to a treatment for this person's chemotherapy or something like that. I nearly had to do a double take and make sure it was hubbie I was talking to. People, I can't believe this. It's like being 10 again. Only now with the evolution of the plastic sandwich bag to high tech zip locks, we now have a zip lock bag sitting directly above our garbage can (just in case I happen to have any thought of throwing out a can in the garbage I can now think twice about it). That website above clearly says this is an urban legend. It is clearly a ploy to make people look like nimrods as they collect these things from cans each day. And really, CLUTTER!!! Why. Do. We. Need. More. Clutter? Honestly, I'm living my childhood all over again. Well, if for no other reason that this situation has come about, it gave me good little chuckle...until I realized hubbie was actually serious!!! **sigh**

Please resist the urge to send me (or hubbie) your can tabs...I'll be forced to send them back and trust me it won't be pleasant.

Happy 5 Month Birthday Li'l Foot!!!

Today is Li'l Foot's 5 month Birthday!!! How much she's grown. How fast the time has already seemed to go. How many diapers we've already gone through. How many times we've squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezed and kissed those big ol' cheeks!!! So here she is folks...at 5 months!!!

We've entered the world of baby food...

As of a couple weeks ago, Li'l Foot had cereal for about a week and then after about a week I added a sampling of apple sauce to go along with it. Since then she's tried mangos and most recently I've mashed up a fresh banana to go with the cereal.

My mom has offered to make some apple sauce just like she used to do for us. (Only she started giving us solids when we were a month old!!!) We should have the sauce in a day or so. After thinking about it, I dug out a baby puree book I bought at B&N last year before we even had Li'l Foot. On the front cover there are little fruits and veggies such as an orange, a banana, a potato, etc. and there happens to be a mushroom and an artichoke. The fruits and veggies have eyes and arms and legs and stuff. But here's my thing, not one single recipe in the book calls for mushrooms or artichokes. Why would they put a veggie on the front cover if they're not referenced in the cook book?

Okay, I'm over it...clearly I need a hobby if this is the type of thing I'm blogging about now.

Don't tell hubbie...

We've lived in our house almost 2 years. Apparently the old cat lady that lived in our house before it was torn down and rebuilt fed some stray cats and they've just hung around and mooched and mooched and mooched. Well we personally have never fed these cats, but I think they still like to pass through our yard once in a while just because they can and also because the dumbass neighbors behind us feed these cats and the cats crawl under our fence to shorten the distance from here to there without walking around the block. During the winter they found shelter under the shed and on the chair under the tarp that covered our patio furniture. And we know when we can't get Guinness to come back inside because he's whining in some corner of the yard, it's because he's spotted one of these stray felines and has his sights set on getting a hold of it. Dumb dog...we have one just like it in the house, now get your ass inside!!!

So over the past few weeks, hubbie has grown increasingly frustrated by this one particular stray black cat. It darts out from under the funkia bushes or whatever they are when he's mowing the lawn. And a little part of him wishes he could run it over with the lawn mower....ok, a big part of him wishes that. So most recently he's threatened to get a pellet gun and maim this cat. Well, on Friday night, hubbie was outside talking to our neighbor across the street. And I come to find out, this neighbor lent Sean a pellet gun to finally get revenge on this cat.

When we were out and about on Saturday, while I went to a bridal shower, he went to the store and bought...PELLETS!!!! So he's really taking these steps towards maiming this poor cat. And it breaks my heart. I hate the cat too, but can't we just put a really clean piece of glass by the fence and watch as he runs head on into it? At least we'd be able to laugh about the whole thing and I wouldn't have to cry because he hurt an animal. So yesterday, while he was doing something, I noticed he left the pellets out on the counter. So I decided (mwa..ha...ha...ha...ha) I'd HIDE THEM!!!! So I put them in a place he never looks!!! In the china closet drawer!!!! Like I said MWAAAA...HA...HA...HA...HA!!!!!!

So also, yesterday, I was outside, cleaning the interior of my truck (yeah I don't know why either, but my back is screaming at me for it today...let's not talk about it), which made me have to go and open the shed door in order to get the Armor-All out. Well, then I got side tracked...hubbie left for work (double time...OT baby!!!!)...then friends stopped by and dropped off a bunch of stuff for Aunty Pocklock for the days she has Li'l Foot on Fridays...and then they invited Li'l Foot and me to go to the movies to see Surf's Up (I'd blog about Li'l Foot's first movie theater experience, but it wa a non-event really, she zoned in on the screen the first 10-15 minutes and then fell asleep for the rest of the first half and then woke up, ate and just watched from my lap...like I said...a non-event really). So after the movie I headed straight for Pocklock's house to drop off all the goodies. I did not pass go, nor did I collect $200!!! I was there until 10. I don't know why (except that I love Pocklock and Mr. Pocklock!) but I stayed (it's not like I had a 5 month old to put to bed or anything) and watched the last episode of the Soprano's, which also was a non-event and so anti-climactic to the point of annoying, which by the way was the first episode of The Soprano's that I've watched since the very first season!!!! Whatever!!! When I did return home, I was pulling up our road and remember that I hadn't left the lights on for darn self (what do you think..we run a Motel 6 or something?...sheesh!!!) so I knew i'd have to pull the car in and leave the lights on while I ran up and unlocked the door and turned the outside lights on. So, I pulled in the driveway and as my lights scanned our property I noticed a creature making it's way into the shed...it was the CAT...the BLACK CAT...The one Sean wants to MAIM...SHIT!!!! So I jump out of the car, ran over hill and dale in our yard, careful not to step in doggie land mines and to not fall in a hole (our lawn isn't exactly even right now but we're working on it). I thought the motion alone would scare that black cat away, but it didn't so like a lunatic I tssssssssssssssstttt tssssssssssssssstttt at it as I was running across the yard. And it worked because he took off behind the shed and I shut the doors and locked them. I have no idea if anything was taken (I hope not), and furthermore, I have no idea if there were any other creatures in the shed...I was not going to stick around and find out!!!!!!

Oh my gosh...If hubbie knew that Cat was this close to putting a Home Sweet Home plaque on the outside of the shed door (right next to the deer antlers hubbie hung above the doors - Oh God, we so live in country-bumpkin land - did I really just admit to the webiverse that we have deer antlers hanging anywhere on our property - It was so not my idea - that was all hubbie!!!) he'd have a FIT!!! And then he'd go inside, deck himself out in camouflage, tie tree branches to his body pretending to be a bush, grab a can of cat food as bait, get the pellet gun, search high and low for the pellets I am HIDING and go stake himself out in the yard and wait as long as it takes to lure that BLACK CAT to our yard and not only MAIM him but take care of him Soprano's style...you want a better ending to last night's final episode of Soprano's I've got one and it includes hubbie and a black cat and a pellet gun with no pellets!!!

They broke in...

...as heard on a phone conversation between me and hubby just a few minutes ago!!!!

Hubbie: I think someone broke into the house!
Me: (Insert immediate panic stricken fear here) Oh my God, why?
Hubbie: The package of cookies I bought yesterday is open, and I know they weren't open when I bought them or when I left this morning.
Me: Did you ask the dog?
Hubbie: I'm sure he didn't get into them.
Me: No, did you ask him who broke in?
Hubbie: He's not talkin'!
Me: Oh...Hmmmm!! Should we get a better watchdog?
Hubbie: (Shaking head) So, how were they?
Me: (mouth full of said cookies) Whuat? I doun't knoauw whaut yoau'are taulking aboaut...whaut cooaukies?

Not to be evil or anything...

If you know me...you know I cringe anytime a kid goes flying by me in a parking lot, in a supermarket, or anywhere on a pair of heelys...Then you also know that I make stink eyes at the display of Heelys in the shoe department of any store I go into...honestly?...it serves 'em right...Those things are so dangerous and they CAN NOT be any good for a child's leg development. I mean, think about it, one foot and leg is constantly doing something the other foot/leg combo is doing and visa versa.

Smart-assed and sassy...

As heard in a sitting area...

(Convo between a filming crew and a nosey rosey.)

Nosey rosey: What's going on here, what's being filmed, some sort of reality tv show?
Smart-assed film crew guy: Nah, a documentary about people.
Nosey Rosey: Oh, about what?
Smart-assed film crew guy: We signed a confidentiality agreement!!!
Nosey Rosey: Oh...well it's a good thing it's so gossipy around here!
Smart-assed film crew guy: So what are they saying about me?
Nosey Rosey: I know, but I can't tell you because like you I also signed a confidentiality agreement!!!
Smart-assed film crew guy: Touché!!!
